Bourbon County Band Earns Class A Runner-Up

The Bourbon County High School Marching Band concluded a spectacular day of competition by earning the title of Class A Runner-Up and securing a spot in the coveted evening Finals at the 2025 Bands Of America Kentucky Regional Championship competition on Saturday. The performance, which took place at Cardinal Stadium, marked a major highlight for the Colonels’ competitive season.

Competing against some of the finest high school bands from across Kentucky and the surrounding region, Bourbon County delivered a memorable rendition of their 2025 program, “Motif.” Their presentation was characterized by exceptional musicality, intricate drill design, and powerful visual storytelling, captivating both the audience and the judging panel during the preliminary competition.

As one of the smallest schools in the overall field, the Colonels represented Class A with distinction. Their dedication was recognized with major accolades, including the awards for Outstanding Music Performance and Outstanding General Effect in Class A. This powerful showing secured the Class A Runner-Up title. More importantly, their strong placement put them among the top bands of the entire regional event, earning them a well-deserved invitation to the final round of competition that evening.

While the students were the stars on the field, the band’s success is built on the foundation of support provided by the dedicated network of band parents—the program’s unsung heroes. This volunteer corps dedicated every Saturday from September through November, effectively turning their commitment into the band’s competitive backbone. They ran the logistics of a major production, managing the “Pit Crew” to swiftly transport enormous props, instruments, and equipment with precision during the tight transition windows. Simultaneously, the “Food Crew” worked tirelessly in the background, preparing and serving hundreds of hearty meals and snacks, ensuring every student was energized from the early morning departure to the late-night return. Other parents documented the journey, capturing every triumphant moment, from the focused silence of the warmup block to the joyous camaraderie on the field. Their unwavering dedication ensured the students could remain laser-focused on their artistry, making the parents’ time and effort an invaluable contribution to the Colonels’ achievements at the Kentucky Regional

In Finals, the band took the field one last time, refining their already remarkable performance with an added layer of energy and emotional depth. While competition at this level is always intense, Bourbon County achieved a 12th place finish overall.
