Bourbon County Marching Band Claims 2nd in Class 3A, 3rd Overall at Boyle County Rebel Showdown

The Bourbon County High School Marching Band put on a stellar performance under the stadium lights at Boyle County High School on Saturday, September 19, earning second place in Class 3A and finishing third overall among all competing bands at the 2026 Boyle County Rebel Showdown.

With preliminary rounds earlier in the day canceled to prioritize student safety, the event shifted into an electric, single-round evening showcase. Bands across Classes 1A through 5A convened in Danville for a full slate of pageantry and musicianship sanctioned by the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA).

Bourbon County took the field at 8:45 PM, setting a high standard as the opening group in a fiercely competitive Class 3A division before holding strong near the very top of the overall leaderboard.

“For Your Eyes Only”: Precision and Style

Led on the field by Drum Majors Laura Bacon and Kelby Kenimer and under the direction of Band Director Eric Hale, the 85-member ensemble performed their 2026 production, “For Your Eyes Only.”

The performance highlighted Bourbon County’s signature ensemble sound, featuring dynamic brass and woodwind passages, layered percussion work, and cohesive drill formations across the field. The Marching Colonels brought poise, visual flair, and intense energy to the Danville crowd, solidifying their standing as one of the state’s premier marching units.

The mid-September invitational serves as an essential competitive benchmark on the KMEA calendar, offering the Marching Colonels critical adjudication feedback across music performance, visual effect, percussion, and auxiliary captions as staff and students refine the production heading into the October championship stretch.
